OSU CARES is a jointly funded effort of University Outreach and Engagement and Ohio State University Extension. This initiative serves as a catalyst to activate teams of university professionals to address anticipated critical issues to face Ohioans. These teams have resulted in new partnerships between OSU Extension and colleges, departments and units of the university. Through the work of these teams and partnerships, new or enhanced outreach/engagement efforts connect the resources and educational services of the university with the communities the university serves. Through OSU CARES, teams and partnerships focus on the cutting edge future issues that will face Ohioans and strive to provide resources and educational services that can help Ohioans make decisions that positively affect their lives.
Through OSU CARES:
Connections and support is provided to Extension administrators, educators and specialists.
OSU Extension has collaborated with over 50 Ohio State departments, 20 colleges and the 4 regional campuses.
Supported over 55 interdisciplinary outreach teams through its grants program.
Partnered OSU Extension and the College of the Arts to reach rural Ohio communities with sampler arts performances. This initial programming has lead to a more formal partnership between OSU Extension and the Department of Theatre for a shared faculty position focused on bringing the arts to communities throughout Ohio.
OSU Extension has developed learning centers with interactive video systems and computer labs that allow for expanded technology based programming and expanded credit/noncredit courses.
The Distance Learning Toolbox was developed in partnerships with FAES Communications and Technology and the Office of Continuing Education.
