Objectives for Grants Program

- For faculty members in departments without Extension appointments to benefit from partnering with Extension.
- For Extension team leaders to benefit from partnering with Ohio State faculty who do not have Extension appointments.
- To foster closer working relationship between Extension team leaders and Ohio State non-Extension faculty.

Who is Eligible?
Faculty WITHOUT Extension appointment who are serving on OSU Extension teams and their OSU Extension partner(s). Preference will be given to faculty in departments which DO NOT have Extension faculty positions.
What Will be Funded
1. Registration fee for professional/scholarly conference where faculty member and Extension person co-present or both participate (conference must be related to work they are doing on their team). Up to $300 for conference registration fee for faculty member (and up to $150 or 50% of registration fee for their Extension colleague). Will fund up to two Extension people for each non-Extension faculty member.
or
2. Mileage for faculty member (non-Extension) to travel to Team or Extension related meeting in Ohio.
To Apply
Extension team leader must send a letter to Karen Bruns (bruns.1@osu.edu), OSU CARES and cc appropriate Assistant Director. Turn around within 1 week in most cases. In letter include:

Amount of money being requested, and what it will pay for (including name of conference or team/Extension meeting, total cost of conference registration fee or estimated mileage, location and date).

Name of non-Extension faculty member and/or the Extension personnel requesting support. Each person's role with Extension team and their job position title and department.

How does this relate to or benefit the faculty member's collaboration with the Extension team and how does the Extension team benefit?
If Funded
Extension Team leader is to notify the Faculty member and Extension staff members about the support received.
Reimbursement will be provided after the event. For reimbursement, the following steps must be taken:
1. Before the event, fill out and submit to OSU CARES an approved "Ohio State University Travel Request Form."
- If there will be additional expenses during the trip not covered by the OSU CARES grant, please list the chartfield that will be responsible for these expenses.
- Be sure the Traveler and Authorizing Officer have both signed the form.
- Mail or fax directly to OSU CARES office, 224 Mount Hall, 1050 Carmack (fax 614.688.3533). We will fill out our portion and forward to the Travel Office for processing.
- DO NOT process through your department. You will receive a "Ohio State University Travel Reimbursement Form" with assigned T number after processing is complete.
2. After the event, fill out and submit to OSU CARES the "Ohio State University Travel Reimbursement Form" that you received (step 1).
- Complete both sides (front and back). OSU CARES will cover the costs agreed upon in the terms of the grant. Any additional costs should be covered by the department chartfield that was listed on the Travel Form.
- Attach all appropriate original, itemized receipts and a copy of conference/meeting program or agenda.
- Be sure the Traveler and Authorizing Officer have both signed the form.
- Please include a statement identifying the benefit received from participating with the colleague from their team.
